Cherokee Records is proud to announce the debut album of the Silvertones! A vibrant rockabilly outfit from Germany that is active already for years. The band is strongly influenced by the neo-rockabilly from the 8t’s as well as the more original sounds that returned in many outfits in the 9t’s . The result is a sound with a nice mixture of 5t’s style original rockabilly and neo-rockabilly. The tunes on the album are mostly cover versions of well known songs from people like Carl Perkins, Jerry Lewis or Charlie Rich to name but a few! Of the seventeen tunes on this record only 3 of them are self penned and that is somehow a pity! However all renditions here are treated in a special way giving them that special Silvertones treatment! Take for instance “Jezebel”, “Diddly Daddy” or “Breathless” there are covers that are worth to mention for their special treatment! On “Diddly Daddy” they clearly listened a little to much to “Two Tons of Steel”, while “Jezebel” sounds like Chris Isaac is playing along. Hi-Ho-silver Radio is a real master album full of great songs without being a juke-box! The latter is quite important to me! Since many cover versions I hear are merely a bleak copy of the original, these renditions throw in something extra! A little extra ingredients and some of that old, tasteful Silvertones sauce, makes from this album a very welcomed platter! Mr Blue Boogie
